I am Alexander Wintsch, designer and craftsman born in Barcelona. Part of my childhood was spent in Switzerland, my mother’s homeland, where I inherited a deep passion for the mountains and skiing—an inspiration that still permeates each of my creations.
My journey began alongside my father, crafting monocles and glasses, and with his help I opened my first workshop in Madrid. There, I designed frames rooted in tradition, each piece carrying a sense of family and legacy.
Today, almost four decades later, I continue to evolve as one of the most innovative designers in the international optical industry—revisiting the spirit of those first designs, where attention to detail and uncompromising quality remain my true signature.
Inspiration
While traveling with my mother, Mireya, I grew up listening to her stories— tales of distant journeys, unique cultures, and the inspiring people she met along the way.
Her profession as a flight attendant often took her soaring above the Swiss Alps, where she fell in love with the majesty of those peaks.
Trip after trip, memory after memory, a collection began to take shape—one that today embodies the essence of her adventurous spirit. As a tribute, each design proudly carries the name of those mountains.
Ultimately, it is her way of seeing the world, and the values she passed on to me, that define the soul of the Alexander Wintsch brand.
